A Trip To The Countryside

One of my favourite people in the world is my lovely friend, Kat Venus.  We met in the most unlikely pub in London 8 years ago and I've thoroughly enjoyed her company ever since.

Besides being a fabulous person in her own right, she is also the gorgeous wife of Shaun and the beautiful Mummy to these two divine princesses, Amelia and Bella.

The Venuseses live out of London now in West Berkshire in a lovely country village setting. There's lots of winding country roads with the trees that grow over the top like a canopy of leaves.  So pretty.

They were kind enough to let me come and stay with them for the weekend and it just happened to coincided with the first birthday of Peter, the first son of another of my favourite people, Kevin. So down to Salisbury we went for the day.

This was mine and Peter's first meeting because the last time I was here in the English countryside with these peeps, Peter was still about a week away from coming into the world.

This lovely lady ⬇ is Peter's Mummy, Kate. She was quite taken with the present that I bought for Peter...... I'd be quite surprised if he even set eyes on it before she whisked it away to her own room!

The birthday boy seemed to get through the day unscathed and had to have a little nap in the middle of it.  Sometimes we all feel like having a little bit of a nap in the middle of a party too, and sometimes, we do!

Another young chap who always enjoys a party is my dear friend, Matt.  He is full of joie de vivre and never fails to make me laugh.  He has moved from London as well and now lives in Devon which has had a considerable effect on his accent!

Kate made Peter's pirate ship cake, complete with listing pirate ship.

Going to blow out the candles..... Peter obviously wasn't quite sure what to do, but luckily there were other kiddies there who were more than happy to give it a blow.

I love this picture, such a lovely moment between father and son.

So this lovely couple got engaged earlier this year and are due to get married next year.   I've known Kev for a long time but it was great to get to know Kate this time around.  It's so lovely when you meet someone who is just your sort of person.

Happy Birthday to Peter
Thank you to the O'Pelopida's for a lovely party
A big thank you to the Venuses for all your generosity and hospitality
And thank you to Matt, for just being you!
