Up Up and Away

4.20am

This is what time we were being picked up for our balloon ride.

4.20am!

We got there and watched the team set everything up and get the balloons blown up.  It was amazing to be in the middle of nowhere and see all these huge balloons come to life.

One by one they lifted gracefully into the air and as our turn drew nearer my stomach turned that little bit more.

This was when were still on the ground.  I was happy with this height.

But as we lifted, you couldn't even feel the basket float into the air, then all of a sudden we were up there with the rest of the balloons.  It was quite magical.

We flew over different valleys and in between rock formations.

And over their funny vineyards.  They're flat and hardy vines that make quite nice wine.

We floated for what seemed like forever, until well after the sun had come up.

Then it was time to come down.  There is nothing sadder than a deflating balloon!

When we landed our pilot through over a bag of rope that was attached to the basket and these men reeled us in like a bit fish.

And landed us directly onto the back of the trailer!

Then as we got off we were directed to walk on the balloon to help get all the air out of it.

Jobs done!

She's dirty work, but somebody's got to do it!

Everyone got a certificate at the end, and Rob's had "Rol Bwlock" on it.  That will be his name from now on.

Well done everyone.

And well done to our pilot!

The team had nearly finished packing up the balloon when all of a sudden one of the men took Lu's handbag and gave it to me and said "Hold this", then picked her up and threw her on top of the balloon bag.

Then he grabbed Madds and did the same.....

Then they said to me that I had to jump on the bag
(they clearly didn't want to pick me up - cowards!)

So giving it my all......

It was Rob's (sorry Rol's) turn next.....

And STACKS ON!

A great time was had by all.

Sorry to my Jenny for not letting you know I was participating in this activity before I left, but you know you would've only fretted!
