During one of our many connection flights through Istanbul, we came across a policeman. He'd been put on the 'help' desk and was clearly not happy about it.
Now this policeman below looks happy. He has a smile and looks ready to help the public.
The one we encountered, unfortunately looked more like this. No eye contact, looking at his watch, wishing the end of his shift would come.
He had his head down and was playing on his phone! We said "Excuse me" and he completely ignored us. We waiting a moment and asked again... "Um, excuse me" and he still didn't look up. This time we spoke in Turkish (cause we're fluent now) and said "Hello!" He actually huffed when he finally looked up, but didn't say anything. We asked if he could direct us to the lounge area, to which he waved his hand in the direction of ... somewhere while he lowered his head again. Bastard! That was all the help we were going to receive. We all stood there in shock for a moment thinking he would look up again, but nothing. He gave us nothing!
Later Lu saw him go into the disabled toilet and when I went past it stunk of smoke - so our helpful policeman was smoking in the disabled toilet and not helping anyone.
What a winner!
